I cannot say enough good things about Hernan Amaya Satt and www.madrid-museum-tours.org. I messaged all the private guides Rick Steves listed for Madrid, and only Hernan addressed my inquiry fully. His price was the best, too. He gave us a wonderful tour of the Prado and, per my requests, drove us to a very reasonable, delightful, and authentic lunch and then to other points we wished to see outside Madrid. He even went out of his way to make sure I got to see the famous aqueduct in Segovia. His boundless knowledge and charm made our day with him the highlight of our 3-week trip to Spain, and I highly recommend his services. I will definitely hire him again next time I am in Madrid!

Walking tour in Madrid
I know this is a very late note as we had our trip to Madrid in July 2007. However, we always think about it and I would like to say it was one of our best walking tours to date.
Hernan A Satt (his email is info@madrid-museum-tours.org) is a funny, knowledgeable and sweet man who showed us around the secret alleys of Madrid. We are a Canadian family of 5 (english speaking) with kids 10,13 and 15. Even my kids were captivated and happy although they had sore feet. They loved the ice cream!!
So if you are thinking of going to Madrid, you must take a walking tour with Hernan as your guide,.. you will be very pleased and happy, not to mention you will love the city even more!

I wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed touring Madrid & Toledo with you . I am doing the writing, but Diane, Sean and Alexis asked me to convey their appreciation and thanks as well. You are a terrific guide, we felt like we really got to see something of Madrid. For me in particular, the "Highlights of the Prado" tour/discussion was particularly meaningful. I love art and seeing some of these great works of art and understanding more about them than I would have with just a guidebook was much more interesting and informative. Las Meninas, in particular, was a painting I had seen pictures of in books and wanted to see in person, but you really provided such in-depth background as to make the painting even more memorable.
The day in Toledo and the late luncheon in Chinchon was also wonderful. Everything was well-paced -we never felt overwhelmed, but we did feel like we got to see and do a lot. I particularly loved Chinchon, by the way. The meal was excellent and there was something about that town that was very appealing to me personally.
You promised an in-depth, more personalized experience with your tours/guidance and you definitely delivered. Walking around Madrid and Toledo with you greatly enhanced our week in Spain - I do hope to get back there again in the future, hopefully with more time.

We are a Canadian family of 5 (english speaking) with kids 10,13 and 15. Even my kids were captivated and happy although they had sore feet. They loved the ice cream!!
So if you are thinking of going to Madrid, you must take a walking tour with Hernan as your guide,.. you will be very pleased and happy, not to mention you will love the city even more!

I wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed touring Madrid & Toledo with you . I am doing the writing, but Diane, Sean and Alexis asked me to convey their appreciation and thanks as well. You are a terrific guide, we felt like we really got to see something of Madrid. For me in particular, the "Highlights of the Prado" tour/discussion was particularly meaningful. I love art and seeing some of these great works of art and understanding more about them than I would have with just a guidebook was much more interesting and informative. Las Meninas, in particular, was a painting I had seen pictures of in books and wanted to see in person, but you really provided such in-depth background as to make the painting even more memorable.
The day in Toledo and the late luncheon in Chinchon was also wonderful. Everything was well-paced -we never felt overwhelmed, but we did feel like we got to see and do a lot. I particularly loved Chinchon, by the way. The meal was excellent and there was something about that town that was very appealing to me personally.
You promised an in-depth, more personalized experience with your tours/guidance and you definitely delivered. Walking around Madrid and Toledo with you greatly enhanced our week in Spain - I do hope to get back there again in the future, hopefully with more time.
